For the most part, the writing in Between the World and Me is spare and concise; that having been said, the book is frequently moving and provocative.  Choose a passage you found particularly effective (reproduce it in your comment), and attempt to explain how the passage achieved its effect on you - what is it about the writing itself?  Additionally, you are encouraged to react to the comments of others, creating sub-threads.
